The top women’s seeds, world number 1 Giulia Gasparri (ITA) and world number 4 and current Wprld Beach Games gold medalist, Flaminia Daina (ITA) arrived in Plettenberg Bay and gave the KIA Summer Slam a thumbs up!

The women’s draw for Plettenberg Bay 1 sees 3 women in the top 10 and a further 3 in the top 20 joining forces to contest the title.

The mixed doubles event started proceedings today in rather windy conditions, but this did not damper the spirits of the competitors, show casing some exciting mixed doubles beach tennis.

The sibling pairing of Manfred and Helga Jeska (SA no.1 ranked player) proves yet again that while the KIA Summer Slam is a professional event, it still allows for family interaction and participation, allowing amateurs and professionals to rub shoulders on the same court in the same event, making beach tennis truly attractive and fun for everyone to participate in.

Action commences on Central beach tomorrow at 09:30 with Men’s and Women’s doubles action.
